Nagaland State Climate Change Study & Knowledge solution Centreb

Nagaland State Climate Change Cell (NSCCC) was established in July 2017 under the Nagaland Science and Technology Council (NASTEC). The Cell was set up under the National Mission for sustaining the Himalayan Ecosystem (NMSHE), one of the eight missions of the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC), prepared by the Ministry of Environment and Forest and supported by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. As per the Nagaland State Steering Committee on Climate Change meeting on 27th November 2017, NSCCC has also been designated as the 'Climate Studies and Knowledge Solutions Centre (CSKCC)' as envisaged under Nagaland State Action Plan for Climate Change (NSAPCC).

Objectives

  • • Assessment of vulnerabilities and risk due to climate change in the state in selected sectors.
  • • Institutional capacity building (NSCCC, Government departments and stakeholders) to attain the capability to understand and handle climate change programmes and to find the solutions to address the problem of climate change in the state.
  • • Create Climate Change Knowledge Portal for assisting decision makers in framing appropriate policy interventions, for all sectorial line departments, institutes/universities, public, civil societies and non-governmental organisations.
  • • To establish a network for research collaboration various stakeholders within and beyond the state.
