2nd Cycle Landuse Landcover Project
Land Use/ Land Cover (LULC) Monitoring Project for Nagaland on 1:50,000 scale was carried out by NASTEC under National Resource Census project in collaboration with Department of Space, Government of India. The Department of Space under the umbrella of the National Natural Resource Management System launched the National Resource Census (NRC) program to have a periodic record of all the natural resources at regular intervals using space based remote sensing techniques to generate a Natural Resources Repository for better management of the land resource.
The primary objective of the study was to update the landuse map for the year 2011-2012 using the data of 2005-06 as a base and to monitor and analyze the land use changes for the State. This mapping/monitoring was done based on a National Standard Land Use/Cover Classification System, which is able to meet the requirements of the various user agencies and also encapsulate the 9-fold classification.
The project was completed in 2014 and submitted to NRSC, DoS.
