This project is funded by Mahalanobis National Crop Forecast Centre (MNCFC) using remote sensing technology. CHAMAN is a pioneer project in which remote sensing technique is being used for strategic development of horticulture sector as also to increase the farmers' income.
The main objective is to prepare a horticulture development plan for Jhum land and Cultivable wasteland areas. This includes horticulture site suitability analysis based on physical parameters and based on conditional search from Jhum lands using Geospatial tools and techniques.
In Nagaland, the 1st Phase of Chaman project is completed.
- Phase I: Dimapur District has been selected and the crop is pineapple. Inputs from Directorate of Horticulture were taken into account when preparing the technical modeling for suitability analysis. The release of report was done on 12th April on 2018 at Guwahati, Assam.
